The staff at Anderson Drilling includes highly experienced and seasoned project managers, engineers, field and support personnel. With our many years of experience, we have the expertise to provide the best solution for any foundation or earth retention need. Our team is a valuable resource to engineers, designers and owners researching the challenges of their particular project.



Dan Cadenhead
President

Dan Cadenhead began his career with Anderson Drilling in 1978. He worked his way up through the ranks of Oiler, Equipment Operator, Equipment Dispatch and Project Manager to his current position. After 20 years of service Dan was promoted to President of the Company in 1998. Dan’s duties include supervision of the day-to-day operations of the company, formulating plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives, insuring profitable growth, and fulfilling the company’s commitment to the community. He is very active in promoting the drilling industry as past President of the West Coast Chapter of the ADSC and current President of the National Chapter of the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC). Dan serves on our Board of Directors, Employee Communication and Risk Management Committees and is a member of our Senior Management Team with nearly 30 years of drilling construction experience.



Jason Ballow
Chief Financial Officer

Jason Ballow joined Anderson Drilling as CFO in January 2008. His responsibilities include financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting and planning, regulatory reporting, banking relations, policies and procedures, and oversight for all financial operations of the company. Jason earned his BA in Business Economics from UCLA in 1992 as well as a MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 1996. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and serves on both our Executive Committee and Senior Management Team.



Kelly Hawes
VP Operations

Kelly Hawes joined Anderson Drilling in October 1996. He has served the company as an Equipment Operator, General Superintendent, and Tool Fabricator. Kelly is a graduate of the International Association of Foundation Drilling’s (ADSC) Supervisor Training Institute and Competent Person curriculum. Kelly directs the day to day operations of the company’s field operations, implementing plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives, maximizing operating results. He assists in the establishment and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and organizational structures with the framework of broad corporate policy. He plans, staffs, and supervises assigned corporate activities through department and area managers providing integration of multiple functions into a cohesive work unit. He provides advice, guidance, and direction to subordinates and managers toward their professional development, while developing and maintaining thorough communications, delegation of responsibility, and delegation of authority for the development of a competent operational team. Kelly serves on our Board of Directors and Employee Communication Committee and is a member of our Senior Management Team with over 20 years of drilling construction experience. Kelly received the Anderson “Star Employee” Award in 2005 for his innovative ideas.



Mike Blanchard
Director of Safety and Training

Mike Blanchard recently joined the Anderson Drilling team. His safety career includes 18 years of progressive loss control and safety experience with both an insurance company and an insurance broker providing risk management services to clients and group members with an emphasis in safety and health. Mike earned his B.S. Degree in Agriculture at Colorado State University. He is a Certified Safety Professional and Associate in Loss Control Management and Risk Management. Mike is a member of various professional organizations including the American Society of Safety Engineers and the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

Mike’s mission for Anderson Drilling is to get and keep the Company at the forefront of safety. He provides dynamic and effective leadership to Anderson Drilling’s safety program.



Duane Phares
San Diego District Manager

Duane Phares has been employed with Anderson Drilling since October 1996. He has risen through the ranks of Estimator and Senior Estimator to his current position. Duane is responsible for supervising our project procurement and project management efforts in the San Diego area. His primary function as area manger is to provide direction of the day to day operations of the San Diego Division by implementing plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives and to insure profitability. Duane supervises all division activities including personnel administration and performance reviews. Duane has previously served as our Director of Safety and Training and on the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) West Coast Chapter Safety Committee. Duane currently serves on our Risk Management and Employee Communication Committees and is a member of our Senior Management Team with nearly 30 years of experience in the construction industry.



Mike Waldren
Rocky Mountain District Manager

Mike Waldren has been the Rocky Mountain Area Manager since joining the Anderson Drilling team in June 1992. Mike is responsible for supervising our project procurement and project management efforts in the Rocky Mountain area. His primary function as area manger is to provide direction of the day to day operations of the Rocky Mountain Division by implementing plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives and to insure profitability. Mike supervises all division activities including personnel administration and performance reviews. Mike is an active member of several industry associations including: International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC), where he has served as past President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter and the Deep Foundation Institute (DFI). Mike serves on our Board of Directors and is a member of our Senior Management Team with nearly 20 years of drilling construction experience.



Mike St.Germain
Los Angeles District Manager

Mike St.Germain has been the Los Angeles Area Manager since joining the Anderson Drilling team in March 1993. Mike is responsible for supervising our project procurement and project management efforts in the Los Angeles area. His primary function as area manger is to provide direction of the day to day operations of the Los Angeles Division by implementing plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives and to insure profitability. Mike supervises all division activities including personnel administration and performance reviews. Mike is an active member of several industry associations including: Associated General Contractors of California (AGC-CA), International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) and the Deep Foundation Institute (DFI). Mike serves on our Board of Directors and Employee Communication Committee and is a member of our Senior Management Team with nearly 30 years of drilling construction experience.



John Yusunas
Southwest District Manager

John began his employment with Anderson Drilling as a dispatcher in 1991. He has risen through the ranks as Yard Manager, Safety Manager and Project Manager promoted to his current position in March 2006. His education includes attending the University of California-San Diego and is an International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) Supervisor Training Institute Graduate, ADSC Competent Person, and Red Cross CPR/First Aid trainer. As Las Vegas Area Manager, John’s responsibilities include developing, directing, and monitoring short-term and long-range plans consistent with overall profit and growth objectives of the company. He plans and supervises all division activities including personnel administration and performance reviews. John serves on our Risk Management Committee and is a member of our Senior Management Team.



Christie Rowan
Director of Contracts

Christie Rowan has been with Anderson Drilling since March 2003. Her duties include negotiating and executing subcontract agreements, assisting project managers with understanding and implementation of the contractual dispute resolution process. Christie conducts research and interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for implication and applicability to corporate matters. She prepares and presents claims to owners and general contractors at settlement meetings. Christie earned her BS in Business Administration at California State University San Marcos. She graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE. She also stays in touch with industry trends through her active membership in the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC). Christie is a member of our Senior Management Team with over 10 years of experience in the drilling industry.



Dennis Poland
Director of Business Development

Dennis Poland joined the Anderson Drilling Team in January 2001. Dennis plans, develops, coordinates and supervises business development and marketing efforts at the corporate level for new and existing target areas. He supervises the development of major proposals, presentations, brochure and website materials. Through him we are affiliated with Deep Foundation Institute (DFI), San Diego Association of Geologists (SDAG), Geo-Institute, California Geotechnical Engineering Association (CGEA) and the Association of Engineering Geologists (AEG). Dennis received his BS degree in geology from Kent State University and became a California Registered Geologist in 1996 and a California Certified Engineering Geologist in 1998. Dennis is co-editor of The Drilling Times Quarterly Newsletter and author of our Quarterly Market Report. Dennis is a member of our Senior Management Team with over 20 years of geotechnical and construction experience.



Mary Webb
Controller

Mary Webb joined the Anderson Drilling Team in August 1999 as an Accounts Receivable Specialist. She has also served as our Contracts Administrator and Administrative Manager. With over 20-years of administrative experience Mary was promoted to Controller in October 2007. In addition to her duties as our Controller, Mary supervises our corporate administrative functions, is co-editor of our quarterly newsletter, The Drilling Times, serves on our Risk Management and Employee Communication Committees and is a member of our Senior Management Team.



Jan Millikan
Human Resources

Jan Millikan has been employed with Anderson Drilling since December 1998. As Payroll Administer she processes weekly payroll for over 185 employees, including all of our union and non-union personnel. As Director of Human Resources she is in charge of company benefits and all other human resource functions. Jan is an active member of our Risk Management Committee and Employee Communication Committee. Jan’s business talents have taken her outside the office where she serves as Treasurer for the East County Personnel Association Board of Directors and is a membership committee member of the San Diego Employers Association Board of Directors. Jan has worked in the construction industry for over 25 years. Her education includes a BBA degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Arkansas, Lawyers Assistant Certificate from the University of San Diego, and Human Resource Certificate from San Diego Employers Association. Jan received the Anderson Drilling “Corporate Star” Award in 2005.



Michael Empizo, P.E.
Director of Engineering

Mike Empizo joined the Anderson Drilling team in 2006 to lead the company’s newly created engineering department from the corporate office location in Lakeside, CA. The department services all office locations enhancing Anderson Drilling’s ability to both engineer and construct systems such that clients are provided with the most cost effective earth retention and deep foundation solutions Mr. Empizo is a registered Civil Engineer and brings over 9 years of experience in project management and engineering design in the areas of slope stability analysis and repair solutions, temporary and permanent earth retention, deep foundation systems design and design of capital improvement projects for city and county agencies. Mr. Empizo earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1993 and furthered his education in Civil Engineering at San Diego State University. He currently holds civil engineering licenses in the states of California, Nevada and Colorado. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
